Although surrounded by the gulf of Thailand, water based activities are only a small slice of the action on Ko Chang. Such is the diversity of things you can do whilst staying on Koh Chang, there's never a dull moment to be had. Whether you prefer to explore the depths of the gulf of Thailand, trek around the rich rainforest’s by elephant or simply relax with a good book by the beach. Koh Chang will deliver beyond your expectations.

Diving & Snorkelling

Being part of a 52 island Archipelago and Mu Ko Chang National Marine Park you would expect there to be an abundance of pristine coral and a richness of marine life. You wouldn't be wrong. The alluring sea life amongst the underwater realms of the gulf of Thailand makes Koh Chang a first choice for divers of all experiences.

Restaurants

With a variety of restaurant’s, cafe’s and beach bar’s all offering a vast selection of food to cater for all tastes your never in short supply when needing to cure your hunger. Whether you require some fresh fruit for breakfast, a light snack or salad for lunch or some of the freshly caught seafood available in the evening your options are far from limited.

Bars

With a complete contrast of visitors to Koh Chang it’s bars and night life cater for all preferences. Most beach bars come with a relaxed atmosphere allowing to kick back, enjoy the tipple of your choice and mingle with fellow travellers.

Spa and Massage

Koh Chang provides the perfect setting for those wishing to simply unwind, kick back and revitalise. The surroundings of it’s beautiful rainforest and white sandy beaches make the perfect escape for those wanting to indulge in some much needed pampering.

Waterfalls

Chang island is famous for it’s different waterfalls and you are spoilt for choice with several found across the island. Klong Plu is one of the more popular ones located on the west of the island. Other waterfalls include Klong Nonsi, Klong Nueng and next to it’s namesake pier Than Mayom. Some form part of the national marine park so expect to pay an entrance fee of 200 baht.

Elephant Riding and Trekking

You can’t visit “Elephant Island” without exploring the rainforest’s on one of the Elephant treks available on the island. There are 2 companies that offers Two hour treks through the jungle including stops at some of the waterfalls on the island. There are also bathing and feeding performances available.

Water Sports

Hire a canoe or a kayak for the day and take in the different bays and beaches of the island. Rental starts from around 100 baht for an hour or 500 baht for the day. Some of the larger resorts have there own equipment and may offer this for free.

Golf

The island is now home to its very own 9 hole pitch and putt course on the island. Not quite at championship level but this course offers something for all ages and abilities. Amazing views and scenery make playing this course a spectacular sight. Located by the beach in Klong Son, 9 holes will cost 300 baht or 100 baht for under 12’s.

Thai Cookery Classes

If after sampling the beautiful cuisine of Thailand you want to learn how to share it with your friends and family back home then sample one of the Thai Cookery classes on the island. The class begins by visiting the local market and choosing your own fresh ingredients before learning the art of fruit and vegetable carving and cooking traditional stir fry dishes

Shopping

Don’t expect to find any international shopping malls selling genuine designer goods on Koh Chang. However if looking for a souvenir like a traditional thai carving or jewellery handbags and CD’s etc then there are plenty of shops or stalls on offer for you.

Boat Trips

The best way to see the beaches of Koh Chang or the surrounding islands is by taking one of the boat trips available. These trips can be used either as a method of travel between the islands for the day or for snorkelling. Alternatively day and night fishing cruises can be arranged in Bang Bao where the fishing village is. Most guest houses and the larger resorts will be able to organise these trips for you.

Other Stuff

Your never in short supply of fun things to do whilst staying on Koh Chang. Besides the usual beach activities there is still a plethora of things to enjoy away from the sand and sea. For the adventurous why not experience the hidden jungles of Ko Chang with a day long trek. Or simply experience a slice of Thai culture by taking a Thai Cookery class
